In the past, plastic surgery was more used in treatment
than enhance beauty, for example reconstruction body and face caused from
accident or birth defects. But today
it has changed. Plastic surgery is more popular in beauty than treatment to
improve physical features, e.g. nose
jobs, breasts enhancement, double eyelid surgery, face reconstruction,
implants, and liposuction. However, before
opting for something as drastic as plastic surgery, people should calculate the
pros and cons of it to accurately assess the risks and benefits.
There
are a lot of advantages of plastic surgery not only to enhance beauty. It can
also be used for medical purpose. For the reason of enhance beauty, the most
popular advocates of plastic surgery would have to be celebrities because in
their field, their beauty is almost tantamount to their popularity. They have
to look good in order to continue being looked up to as a celebrity. It is a
form of preservation for them but normal people also have this desire to look
good. Normal working people also deal with customers, clients and others so the
need to look good would always be there. (belemoih89,
febuary 2011). For the reason of medical
purpose, plastic surgery was first used to remodel broken bones and distorted
features of the face such as connection of the lips to the nose.(Should plastic
surgery be available to the public?, 2011). Therefore surgeons
can repair people’s faces if they are injured in an accident. Furthermore
cosmetic surgery can remove scars or blemishes. In addition beauty can increase
a patient’s sense of self-confidence. (StefaniKostova,
october 2012)
For the disadvantages of plastic surgery,
first is the
risk of side
effects which can result in mistake or even death. When you bring something disguised into the tissues in the body or reconstruction the body or face.
If not treated by
a medical professional and unclean, it is caused an infection and result
in serious. Second reason is expensive, you have to pay the minimum for nose
jobs about 10,000 baht and
50,000 for breasts
enhancement. It can put tremendous financial pressure on patient and their
family. While assessing the cost of the surgery, people tend to forget the cost
of the postoperative medication. And sometimes, people have to pay for
secondary surgeries because of dissatisfaction with results. Most insurance
policies do not pay for elective procedures such as plastic surgery.
To sum up, plastic surgery has both advantages and disadvantages. You have to consider the
necessary and appropriate to do, because the surgery is not the
only way to solve the problem.
If you would say the
surgery helps with more confident and charming, you can use other method
like dressing or make-up. It may help you look pretty beautiful without having
plastic surgery anymore.
